Will the SturdiBag fit under an airline seat?


The SturdiBag Pro's features a patented flexible frame that allows it to conform to most under-seat spaces on commercial airlines. However, since seat dimensions and airline policies can vary, we recommend checking with your specific airline prior to travel to ensure a smooth experience.

What size carrier is right for my pet?

  1. Measure your pet
    Length: nose to base of tail

    Height: floor to top of head or ears when standing

    Weight: use a scale if possible
  2. Compare your pet’s size to the carrier’s internal dimensions and weight limit
    Make sure your pet can stand up (at least for small/short stands), turn around, and lie down comfortably.

    Ensure your pet’s weight is under the weight limit listed for the size.

    If your pet’s length or height is close to or exceeds a dimension of the carrier, go up a size.
  3. Consider comfort & usage
    If you’ll be traveling (car, airplane), you may want a bit extra room rather than a super tight fit.

    If your pet tends to stretch out or move around, leaning toward the larger end of the size they qualify for is wise.
  4. Airline considerations (if relevant)
    Always check your airline’s in-cabin pet carrier size limits. The listed “Height/Width/Depth” are for the carrier at rest, so the flex-height feature gives some wiggle room.


Is the Pop-Up Kennel suitable for large or multiple pets?


 For medium to small dogs or cats and one or two pets
(especially if they’re calm and get along), the Cargo (small) and Show Shelter
(medium) size of the Pop-Up Kennel is suitable.

For large breeds (big height/length or heavy weight) the medium
may be too small; you’d want the Habitat (large) size or otherwise ensure the
pets have enough clearance & stable containment.

For multiple pets, if they are small-to-medium and you use
the “double” compartment version (or remove the divider) you can create a
larger unified space.

Do your carriers have enough ventilation for air travel or long drives?


Every Sturdi carrier is designed with ample airflow and comfort in mind, but each model offers different levels of ventilation to suit your pet’s specific travel needs.

Which pet carrier is airline compliant?

Different airlines have varying size requirements for in-cabin pet carriers, please always confirm with your airline before flying.

  • The Large Cube and Medium SturdiBags meet all major airline specifications.
  • The Small and Large SturdiBags meet most airline requirements.
  • The Extra Large may not be accepted by all airlines due to its length.
  • The Extra Extra Large carrier is not airline compliant.
  • The Incognito model is not recommended for air travel, but is ideal for everyday use and casual outings with your pet.

Which Pop-Up Kennel will fit in the back seat of my car?

The CarGo Pop-Up Kennel is designed to be car-friendly, fitting easily in most back seats without obstructing visibility. It can also be secured in SUVs using built-in ties and tie-down loops for added stability during travel.

  • The Medium Pop-Up Kennel is taller and wider, making it suitable for most compact cars, though it may overhang by about 4 inches.
  • All Pop-Up Kennel models include seat belt loops for safe travel — except the Euro Back models, which do not feature this attachment.

Is the SturdiBag machine washable?

Machine Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle using cold or warm water — avoid hot water.
  • Vacuum first to remove loose hair and debris.
  • Use a stiff brush to clear hair from hook-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners.
  • Disassemble all parts before washing remove security zipper clips, shoulder strap, fleece pad, baseboard, and both horizontal and arch rods.
  • Turn the carrier inside out before placing it in the washer.
  • Air dry completely — avoid direct sunlight or heat.
  • Once dry, reinsert the arch rods first, then replace the remaining components.

How do I clean the SturdiBag Carriers?

Handwash with mild, non-bleach detergent or dish soap.

  • Keep the arch rods intact but remove the comfort pad (machine wash separately), baseboard, shoulder strap, zipper clips, and the two horizontal roof rods.
  • Vacuum the bag to remove loose hair and debris.
  • Use a stiff brush to clean hair or lint from the hook-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners.
  • Wipe the interior and exterior with warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Air dry completely away from direct sunlight before reassembling.

How do I clean the Pop-Up Kennels?

Hand wash using a mild, non-bleach detergent or dish soap.

  • Shake out loose debris, then vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
  • Spray the carrier inside and out with a gentle hose rinse.
  • Wipe all surfaces with warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Air dry completely, keeping the carrier away from direct sunlight.
  • For strong odors, soak in warm water with orange oil soap or non-bleach detergent, then treat with a pet-safe odor spray after drying.

Are the fleece pads machine washable?

Fleece Pad and Hammock Pad Care Instructions

  • Machine wash using a mild, non-bleach detergent.
  • Before washing, remove the rods from their guides by gently flexing them out (applies to hammock pad only)
  • Place the hammock inside a pillowcase or fabric laundry bag to protect the swivel hooks during washing (applies to hammock pad only)
  • Air dry or machine dry on low heat only.

How do I clean the vinyl doors and liner?

We recommend using 303 Aerospace Protectant as a safe and effective vinyl cleaner. It helps maintain flexibility, prevent cracking, and keep the vinyl looking new.

Avoid using window cleaners or products containing ammonia, as they can remove the protective coating that keeps the vinyl soft and supple.

What is the warranty policy?

All Sturdi Products purchased directly from the manufacturer are warranted against manufacturer defects for 12 months from the date of purchase.
