We absolutely love our Large SturdiBag! We bought it for our 8 lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy since she’ll be traveling with us often, and it did not disappoint.
It fit perfectly under the middle-row seat on American Airlines when placed lengthwise. The removable solid bottom gives it great support, and the removable, washable cushion made it really comfortable for our puppy. She was so relaxed she fell asleep before the plane even took off.
One of my favorite features of the 3.0 version is how easy it is to remove all of the support rods and solid bottom before washing in the machine. Turning the bag inside out was simple, it dried overnight inside our house, and putting everything back together the next morning only took a couple of minutes.
The shoulder strap is comfortable and easy to attach or remove, depending on how you’re carrying it. I was honestly surprised by how much the two side pockets held. We packed our puppy’s treats, a small chew bone, a small Flexi leash, a 6-foot cloth leash, a poop bag dispenser, and six folded paper towels, and the Velcro closures kept everything securely in place.
I also loved that the bag slid securely over the handle of my rolling carry-on, which made walking through the airport so much easier.
The only thing that took me a minute to get used to was locking the zipper pulls because the openings are pretty small. Once I realized they’re intentionally designed that way so curious little paws (or noses) can’t work the zipper open, I actually appreciated the extra security.
Overall, we’re so happy with this carrier. It feels thoughtfully designed, easy to clean, comfortable for our puppy, and made traveling much less stressful. I’d absolutely buy it again.
The quality, color, and overall comfort of the carrier exceeded my expectations. It's well made, sturdy, and my dog seems very comfortable inside.
Since it was my first time ordering, I wasn't completely sure about the size, so I had to return it and purchase a different one. Throughout that process, your customer service was always kind, responsive, and very helpful, which made the experience stress-free.

I wanted to love this bag. I loved the special design I received. However, the zipper broke on my first ise with my Cavapoo. The zipper teeth are busted because the nylon string used to keep the “clips” in place and hold the two zippers together rubbed and pulled the teeth as my dog wanted to attempt escape. The bag cannot be repaired - at least not by anyone local and I can no longer use it for airline travel. It was a bit bulky too, but I could have accepted that. Can I return the bag to have it repaired? Or, exchanged for a new one?
My cat absolutely loves this bag. She will climb in the bag just to sleep. She’s a very large and long Norwegian Forest Cat — this bag easily accommodates her size.
The Sturdi 3.0 carrier is excellently made. My cat Freyja is an escape artist. I have tried two different carriers from two different brands — she managed to escape. The first time she escaped was in my car and the most stressful was on my flight from NM. The two brands were not quality. She managed to chew and scratch her way out of the front of the carrier. My friend from Germany highly recommended your Sturdi 3.0. I ordered the Lavender one and I am impressed by the quality. Freyja approved - she loves the thick cushion, and loves her privacy when traveling. The privacy flap is calming. And I love the color!
This is our 3rd product from Sturdi Products. The most recent one we had, which we've had for awhile, had to be replaced due to some of the netting ripping. I really like the fact that it includes the bedding, and solid base to place to make it more sturdy. It's nice that the carrier can be divided inside, and the "windows" can be rolled up and secured. There are 2 straps, one for hand carry, one for the shoulder. There are 2 pockets on the outside for treats, keys, etc. AND there are metal closures for the zippers to be sure you're furry friend is secure. We tried a different brand, but it wasn't as nice. This is definitely worth the price, and we know it will last awhile! My sister just got a cat this year, so we gave her that one-the same size we just purchased. Don't hesitate...your feline or canine deserves a Sturdi Product carrier. Thanks!!
I bought this bag at the recommendation of my miniature poodle breeder. I bought the large in the special edition leopard print and it is a gorgeous bag. I was extremely pleased with all the features of the bag and how well it molds under an airplane seat, giving your dog the maximum amount of room was also fitting snuggly in place.
It is an extremely well-made bag has pockets on the sides, front and top mesh and fabric openings, Velcro attachments, and all the right places loops for attaching thingsand is also very attractive. If you want form and function, high quality, along with a great looking bag this was the bag for you!
the limited edition cherry blossom will bag is amazing it's so beautiful I really didn't need another sturdi because one will last you a lifetime but my girl bichon i couldn't pass up the flower pattern
I have used a hard carrier for my cats my whole life. Just because it was the only option 30 years ago- and I always just went to vet. Many times I just let them sit on the car seat. But when it came time to travel on a plane- I needed a soft carrier. I was gifted this carrier and it was perfect!!!! Soft to fit under the seat. Love the mesh so we could see our cat. Sat nicely on top of our carry on and our cat loved being able to see everything as we rolled him around. And the top opening is perfect for them to feel like they are able to see when in a waiting zone. And the fact it can be washed and the removable pad was great. Happy to 100% recommend!
I purchased two large size bags for my two, one year old kittens. Previously, we had one cat and one plastic crate. With two cats, I needed something light that would allow me to carry two cats at a time. My vet is located in a thickly settled town center and parking is not always available, so I need to be able to carry the two kittens (one weighs 10lbs, another 13lbs) a couple blocks if I'm unlucky with parking. The bag is extremely well made, and I really appreciate the design that allows you to collapse it for storage or for washing. Now... my kittens were VERY upset about going to the vet and I had not used gabapentin, so there was a lot of thrashing around and dramatic cries, but the bag survived the ordeal and so did the kittens. When I first got the bags, the kittens were very happy about sleeping in them. Now that the vet ordeal is over, I will continue to leave them out for sleeping in, in hopes they'll forget their awwwwwwful trip to the vet. :-) I appreciate all the little details in the bag's design- the pockets (so convenient!), the zippers, the ventilation, it's all great. My kittens may hate this bag now, but I love it for allowing me to bring the kittens to the vet all by myself.
We took our Maine Coons to the Cat show on the cross-country flight, and they were so comfortable in their new Sturdy bags, they did not make a sound, they were sound asleep pretty much the whole trip. I was worried that divided bed would be not comfortable, for my 20lbs boy, but the divider goes so flat and the cushions fit so snug together, there was no gap. I definitely recommend SturdyBag for travelling.
Love the supports that allow the carrier to stay erect and not smoosh down on the pet when being transported. The purple compliments my dark Siamese cat perfectly - so nice to be able to have something bright and cheerful!
I love the new sturdy 2.0 the large version and the vibrant color. I chose purple all of the straps and especially the new Velcro fastener that don’t adhere as much to the Persian fur.
Top covers hard to roll back and secure as well as door covers. The newer model may be a better option. Bought as was on sale
Purchased the Sturdi Bag Pro 3.0 pet carrier for my two Yorkshire Terriers. Outstanding attention to detail with the design & top quality materials and construction. My dog busted out of two other soft travel crates in the past, but not this one! The mesh sections are durable & the zippers have small clips to keep them together so the dog cannot unzip the flaps. The pillow is comfortable and held perfectly in place with the velcro for the entire 7+ hours they were in the carrier during a flight. Used on an in-cabin flight and the carrier sat on the seat next to me on Alaska Air. Their Smaller size carriers should fit underneath the seats. Was comfortable to haul through the airport. This is the BEST travel crate!
As a Flight Nanny, I can tell you this is the only soft sided carrier I use - 690,000 miles flown in 2024 all will my SturdiBag. Large is the size that I use without issue with any airline!
Just received the XXL Sturdi Bag. It looks amazing, the quality seems great. My dachshund loved it, immediately laid in and fell a sleep in it. The bottom lining/pillow is soft and comfy.
Absolutely LOVE these bags but so sad to see all the fun colors discontinued. My newest cat needs lime green!
